Sydney's Wicked Envy Unveil Emotional Track "I Can See"
Sydney rock band Wicked Envy consist of members Desiree Hancock (Vocals, Keys), Jakub Kyral (Bass), Jared Doust (Guitar), and Paul Davakis (Drums) which make up an extremely talented group of people who have just released "I Can See", the fourth single from their debut EP “What The Hell Am I Doing?” - set for release on June 15th.
The new track depicts the story of a young woman who is going through an abusive relationship and weighing up the options of speaking to her partner or just walking away. Vocalist Desiree Hancock says about the track:
“ I Can See” is extremely close to me, on a deep, personal and empathetic level. I have based the lyrics off my own experiences and the experiences of others around me”. “I feel this particular song is very powerful in the message it conveys, to use your voice, stand up for yourself and others and be the change that's needed”. You are strong and you can do this. I really hope this song inspires all women out there to be strong, brave and true. You are not alone” “It's very real, in a sense anyone can relate to it and hopefully feel something from it”.
Filled completely with a great sounding rhythm section and incredible vocals, “I Can See” is a real treat for any hard rock fan. From the intro, you can hear strong early Evanescence vibes that are kept throughout the entire track with the piano, vocals, and also with the backing vocals. Des’s vocals are just unbelievable as she displays an immense amount of talent through her vocal melodies and tone which is carried out strongly from the start. This melodic rock ballad is well written in the way that it starts off slow, really focusing on the vocals and lyrics but then it slams into a really powerful rock track that gives it so much force and energy.
“I Can See” is a wicked new track from Wicked Envy. The four-piece always impress me with their solid will to create great music and are never afraid to tell strong stories through their songwriting. Previous tracks “Outsider” and “Frantic” received features on Music Feeds, Heavy Mag, and many more which is so amazing to see for this band and just goes to show you that they have a lot of ability when it comes to music.
