Stand Atlantic // 1st July 2022 // Metro Theatre // Live Gallery & Review

It’s been such a long time coming but finally, pop punk legends are back on home shores and bringing their A-game for a 7 date F.E.A.R tour which kicked off 30th June in Wollongong. July 1st, they hit Sydney hard and made for the best Friday night while taking to the Metro Theatre, bringing along Sydney locals The Sunday Estate, sweethearts Bakers Eddy, and energetic With Confidence to help get the party started right. No hesitation for these fans as the venue started to pack out early and fast as everyone got their drinks and a sea full of vans headed into the main room to get a good spot to view all the action.

The Sunday Estate were first up, as they brought a whole lot of talent and even more catchy tunes. The five piece had a strong, full sound that easily filled up the room while they played through songs that had slick guitar riffs, rhythm guitar strums, strong bass lines, and really great vocals that projected out into the audience and had people moving around. Their set was the perfect way to start the night off right.

Bakers Eddy are a full force of energy mixed with just enough wholesomeness as they interact with the crowd and exchange cheeky grins with everyone while people in the front row sang back to the band - it was really nice to see. Their music packed a hard punch to the face as they all violently strummed their instruments and bounced around on stage in pure excitement and from the looks on their faces, you could tell they were very happy to be there. It was surreal seeing the low light flicker from colour to colour as the audience all held their arms up in the air and started clapping along to the beat of the last track. Bakers Eddy played such an entertaining set and it was awesome to see them on this lineup.

Before With Confidence took to the stage, the room was full to the brim of excited fans eagerly waiting to see them and as soon as they came out, screams erupted in pure excitement and filled up the venue. Huge smiles on the bands faces as they picked up their instruments and got ready to perform a kick ass set full of pop punk goodness. The crowd spent the entire time singing the lyrics back to the band with their hands up in the air while they jumped up and down harder with each song. Newer tracks were played and also some older ones, but it made no difference because everyone screamed louder and louder whenever the vocalist announced what song they were playing next. With Confidence also brought a lot of energy as each member moved around on stage, headbanging and jumping around to the sound of their incredibly catchy tunes.

The audience screamed along to the songs that played before the last set started, songs like “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia and “Untouched” by The Veronica’s had the venue erupt in loud singing from everyone in the room before an automated voice came over the speaker to count down the que time before Stand Atlantic would take the stage.

And just like that, one by one each member walked out on stage and the crowd lit up like fireworks, the smiles, the excited screams, the clapping. It was amazing. Stand Atlantic have a very loving and loyal fanbase and every single person screamed the lyrics and moshed their heart out to the intoxicating songs. There were a lot of movements on stage as the band jumped around, thrashing their instruments around and getting the crowd hyped and that's why it was one hell of a show. Every song of theirs is just as catchy as the last as they bring energetic and great stage presence - they each own that stage. The set saw a lot of moshing, a few circle pits, and even Vocalist Bonnie Fraser doing a shoey amongst the crowd at the top of the venue. Everything about this band is amazing, you can’t fault them and their music.

The whole night was an absolute dream for fans of the genre and from the atmosphere and the looks on the crowd’s faces, everyone had the most amazing night whether they danced with friends, moshed around, or stood swaying to the music at the back - it was a fantastic night for everyone.
