Redhook Drop Brand New Track "Jabberwocky"

Sydney Alt-rock band Redhook have once again released another fire track titled “Jabberwocky” which is an extremely personal one and addresses vocalist Emmy Mack’s experience of sexual assault. If you didn’t know, the Jabberwocky is a fictional creature that is featured in the story of Alice In Wonderland, which in the film adaption Alice gets rid of the jabberwocky by telling herself it doesn’t exist. The use of the metaphor of the Jabberwocky is very smart and done so well through the powerful lyrics. The band have been nothing but busy after the release of their last track in January “Low Budget Horror” as they played a run of festival dates which includes Groovin The Moo and Unify Forever as well as recently finishing up their headline “Bring Ya Mates tour”.

As you dive straight into the new tune you’re welcomed with the usual and fantastic Redhook synth sounds that are quickly followed by the hard crashing of the drums which help kick start the track while the undertone guitar chugs pull everything together. Right from the start, the lyrics are strong and have so much power behind them – Emmy is a talented song writer and always gets her message/story across in the catchy, and energetic tracks. An absolute highlight of the track is in the bridge when the guitars break down with force and a powerful scream is let out by Emmy Mack which just adds so much strength to the song.

Redhook never fail to impress time after time with their solid discography, energetic performances, and passion for what they do. “Jabberwocky” is a track that dives into something serious and traumatic, and it is a track that needs to be heard because it is so powerful.

The band have announced they will be playing iconic Europe festival Rock AM Ring in June which will be followed by a regional tour supporting In Hearts Wake around Australia. If you haven’t heard the new track, give it a listen!
