Johnny Hunter Release Long Awaited Debut Album "WANT"

After years of crafting their sound and building their fanbase up by adding flare to their live shows and music, Sydney band Johnny Hunter have finally released their long awaited debut album titled “WANT” which has ten tracks in total and features previous released singles such as “Endless Days”, “The Floor”, “Life”, “Cry Like A Man”, and “Dreams”. These few tracks have given us a strong insight to how the album was going to sound/feel and with that, there has been no disappointment and only excitement for this masterpiece to be released into this crazy, chaotic world. I find it extremely difficult to find the exact right words to describe how good the band really is as my love for them runs deep but what I can say is with everything they release it heavily drives passion and emotion to the ears of listeners and you can’t deny that they have a lot of talent to show. Their sound will resonate with fans of The Smiths and Joy Division and is mixed with a modern twist so that’s why “WANT” is certainly everything you truly want from this band and is running to the top of my favourite album of this year.

The album features tracks with soaring vocals, raw vocals, and everything in between - as these elements rise to the top above the highly nested and synth infused sounds with underlying guitar chords and rhythm that come together to make track after track even more amazing.

“WANT” starts off with the title track which welcomes listeners with its punchy guitar strums and steady drum beats that just flat out make you wanna dance around to the sound and rhythm. Followed by my favourite track on the album “Endless Days” with it’s soaring vocals and perfect sounding melody, it’s a total vibe and you'll wanna scream the lyrics out from the top of your lungs while having them become stuck in your head for months. Fans have already had the pleasure of hearing the next three tracks as they were released late last year and early this year and have become some of the bands best and most loved work that have seen plays on Triple J and thousands of streams on Spotify. “Fracture” marks the middle of the album and holds a breath of fresh air with it’s slower pace and 80’s vibe within the synths, drums, and vocals while “Cry Like A Man” comes in with a terrific guitar riff that’s followed by emotion filled vocals in the chorus and they scream out “It’s time to cry like a man”. The last three tracks that we are blessed with on the album are nothing short of perfection and are a great way to close out the band's debut album with their individual elements and deep lyricism mixed with sounds you can dance to. All I can say to finish this off is that you need to go and listen to “WANT” in its full entirety and honestly take in how everything this band is and the emotion that this album holds while it makes you want to dance and scream at the same time. It’s a masterpiece, it’s art, it holds passion and that is why Johnny Hunter in my eyes can do no wrong.

If you want to catch the band live, they are embarking on a national album tour which is kicking off in July and will see them travelling across Aus playing these fantastic tracks live for fans.
